Welcome to the Test PantherTV Website!
This is a first attempts at both utilizing the new Panther TV studio and control room and a test of some of the new features in FirstClass
The Tech Village
The Tech Village began with a dream of offering students more options in the area of Technology at MISD. We wanted to teach marketable skills to our students that could allow them opportunities right out of High School. We have seen successes in other areas of technology such as programming, web design, Cisco Networking Academy, desktop design... and the list goes on. Our growth has mandated that we continue to find opportunities for our students. The Tech Village, which offers Engineering, Video Editing, Radio Broadcasting, and TV Broadcasting, is helping us meet that challenge.
The Tech Village was value engineered out of the 04' Bond due to the rise in cost of steel and cement. However, we were able to add a mini TV studio and Jumbo Tron like display at our our new stadium, that has allowed our students to show what kind of a product they could produce if given the technology and the opportunity to use it. We have been able to sell advertising at the stadium to raise revenue that is helping to pay for this adventure. The stadium technology has been used to promote our students and other programs at MHS as well as entertain the fans. This "main feature" at our MISD Multi-Purpose stadium has made this facility stand out among the sea of stadiums in our area. It is now considered one of the best and a premier playoff locations for teams. Best of all, it has paved the way for us to offer more classes and opportunities
for success at MHS for our students.
In the 06' Bond, we were given the opportunity to convert the Commons area in to four specially designed classrooms for Engineering, Radio Broadcasting, TV Broadcasting, and Video Editing. Each area is unique and built to meet the needs of each program. For instance, the radio station has smaller sound proof programming rooms that allow up to 6 students at a time record and edit their shows. At the end of each class period, we will be able to produce 6 hours of programming for our radio station. Each room is outfitted with a computer that is connected to the control room to allow the transfer of programming for use each day. There is sound proofing between Radio and TV and between the TV Studio and the TV Control Room. This facility will allow us to handle professional broadcasts of announcements and news while giving the students an opportunity to gain valuable
experience in all areas of broadcasting. Students will be giving play by play descriptions using radio and putting together video packages for TV using the Radio and TV control rooms.
In addition, part of the Tech Village includes an Engineering lab which utilizes a program called the Infinity Project. The Infinity Project is a national award winning high school and early college math- and science-based engineering and technology education initiative that helps educators deliver a maximum of engineering exposure with a minimum of training, expense and time. Created to help students see the real value of math and science and its varied applications to high tech engineering - The Infinity Project is working with schools all across the country to bring the best of engineering to their students.
