August 30 - September 15: Campus Fundraiser
All money raised from the campus-wide fundraiser directly benefits WGMS students and staff. Students who sell 10 items will attend the special party. Those who sell 15 items will attend the party and get to play laser tag. Students who sell 20 items will enjoy fun and games at Alley Cats! In addition to all of the previous awards, students who sell 30 items get a spin at the Wheel of Fortune while those who sell 40 get to enter the money booth to grab some cash.
September 3: Picture Day
All students will have their pictures taken for the yearbook and student IDs. Student portraits will be taken during social studies classes. Students who would like to purchase a packet must bring the completed order envelope at the time of the picture or order with a credit card online at mylifetouch.com
September 3: Student Council Forms Due for Election Sept. 8
Are you interested in service? Helping others? Promoting school spirit? Run for Student Council! Student Council elections will take place on September 8 during 4th period classes. Students interested in Student Council must submit the permission form by September 3 to be included on their 4th period class representative election ballot. In addition to 4th period class representatives, there will be 12 at large positions for students who are not elected by their 4th period class but are interested in participating in the Student Council activities.
September 6: Labor Day Holiday
Enjoy the extra day off!
September 7-10: Homecoming Activities
Each day of Homecoming week will have a theme. Students are encouraged to show their spirit and dress in the appropriate attire for the day. Please remember that school dress code applies to all spirit days.
Tuesday, September 7 - Twin Day
Wednesday, September 8 - Western Day
Thursday, September 9 - Jersey Day
Friday, September 10 - Panther/Wildcat Spirit Day
September 10: Early Dismissal, 1:35pm
Students will be released early for the day for Homecoming festivities. The Homecoming Parade begins at 3:15pm. The parade route will start at corner of George Hopper and 9th Street. Turn right on 14th Street and then turn left on Stadium Dr./Don Floyd Dr. at the MISD Multipurpose Stadium.
September 23: Meet The Teacher Night, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Come visit with your child's teachers at this come and go event.
8th Grade Yearbook Ads
Make this year special with a personal ad in the WGMS yearbook! Wish your 8th grader
well in high school or purchase a best friends/group ad for several students.
Ads will be in full color this year! There is limited space so turn your order in early. Orders are due by October 1 but orders may be cut off before the deadline if all the page space is taken. Print or view the ad information sheet and order form.

View or print the 2010-2011 School Supply Lists, Dress Code, Student Handbook, Code of Conduct, and bus routes by street name.
Student Drop-off & Pickup Procedures
Safety when dropping students off before school and when picking them up after school is crucial. Please remember the following:
1. Please use only the front drive for student drop off or pick up. The back drive is for buses only.
2. Please adhere to a 10 MPH speed limit while on school property.
3. Please drop students off in the right parking lane only in the mornings.
4. After school, you may pick up your student in either the right or the left parking lane.
5. The two center lanes are for through traffic only.
6. Please do not park in the right lane between the hours of 7:45am to 8:45am or from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. This lane is for drop- off and pickup only during these times.

CNB Quarter Back Program
If you have a debit card through Citizens National Bank, please call the bank to sign up for the Quarter Back program and designate Walnut Grove as your school to receive the donation. The bank will donate 25 cents for every credit or signature based transaction over $25 to the designated school.
