Baxter visit on Vet Day

Mr. Baxter, namesake for Baxter Elementary, and invited Veteran guests were recently honored at T.E. Baxter Elementary during their Veterans Day Ceremonies. Students paid tribute to these honored guests with patriotic readings and songs. Jordan Mosier, an MHS band student, ended the ceremonies by playing "Taps." Guests were encouraged to visit classrooms to share stories from their experiences.

 
 
Storyteller listenerBaxter students recently enjoyed hearing stories from Guest Storyteller, Shelly Kneupper Tucker. 2nd grade student Gage P., from Ms. Storm's class, really got into the story!
 
Pumpkin MathOn October 31, Mrs. Claunch's 3rd grade class used pumpkins in math. We weighed them and measured them, and we discovered that ALL pumpkins, even the big ones, float!
 

Spirit ClassBaxter Students Bring Home Gold!
On Tuesday, Oct. 28th Mrs. Hutchinson's class participated in a Bowling Tournament at Don Carter's Bowling Alley. Baxter students bringing home gold medals were Katie H., Destiny W., and Jared W. Jessie V. also won a 5th place ribbon!

 
Spirit ClassMrs. Moore's Kindergarten class from TE Baxter won the spirit stick! The class that shows the most spirit on home game Friday's is awarded the spirit stick from TEAM. Mrs. Moore's class cheered as they came down the halls, "We've got spirit, yes we do, we've got spirit, how bout you!"

Rock StarsRecently, Baxter Elementary sold cookie dough for a fundraiser. The TEAM Council bravely challenged students to meet their sales goal. If they did, the Council would dress up in 'rock star' costumes and man the car line. Not only did students meet the goal, they passed it. Great job!
 
Bake SaleThe Baxter Community Relations Committee wants to thank you for supporting the bake sale that was held Saturday, Oct. 18th at the MISD Multipurpose Stadium. Whether you baked, volunteered, or shopped at the sale you helped make this event a huge success!
 
New Student BreakfastThe Baxter Community Relations Committee recently greeted new and transfer students to Baxter this year. Students were invited to enjoy muffins and juice, received Baxter pencils, then sang the Baxter song and cheer. We are looking forward to getting to know these students better and look forward to a great year!

Dino World2nd grade students from Baxter Elementary traveled to Dinosaur World in Glen Rose on Sept. 21st with their families. They got to dig for fossils, see over 100 life size replicas of dinosaurs and visit the museum there. Several families traveled on to Dinosaur Valley to view the tracks there and play in the river. The students pictured are from Mrs. Storm's Class and Mrs. Stewart's class.
 
Egg DropTE Baxter fourth graders created and tested protective egg containers using the Scientific Process. These containers were dropped from various heights including the school rooftop and a cherry-picker truck basket extended to 35 feet. Thanks to the MISD maintenance department for visiting our campus and helping us with the drop!
 
Rating CheerNena Challenner, Principal at TE Baxter Elementary and Shara Backus, Assistant Principal recently shared very exciting news with their staff. Baxter Elementary was awarded the highest rating from TEA for 2007-08. The campus achieved the Exemplary rating!
