After a month of dealing with bad weather, the Junior Varsity Softball team finally got a chance to hit the field and compete. Behind the pitching and catching of freshmen Emari Hudson and Sierra Sullivan, the Lady Panthers cruised to a 19-0 win. Leading the offense were sophomores Aaliyah Johnson and Infinity Rogers as well as Jayna Briscoe.
The Lady Panther defeated the Cedar Hill Lady Longhorns 19-2. Picking up the win in the circle was Sophomore Emily Noah. In the first inning Senior Delaney Wayland blasted a 2 run home run. Junior Carley Haizlip had 4 runs batted in with a single, double and triple. Clutch at bats by Senior Katie Anderson, Katie Daniel and sophomore Destiny Rogers kept the inning alive. Next up is a trip to Duncanville on Friday.
After a tough loss to open up district play on Wednesday, the Lady Panther softball team traveled to McKinney for tournament play. In game 1, Sophomore Emily Noah took the win against McKinney North 11-7. Offensively Juniors Carley Haizlip and Rachel Jones found ways to get on base as well as Senior Delaney Wayland. Freshman Georgia Capell smashed her 4th homerun of the year to put the game to rest in the 5th. In game 2, the Lady Panthers took on 5A defending state champion and nationally ranked Lewisville. After a shaky first inning that saw the Lady Panthers go down 3-0, Senior Emily Kuser and the defense settled in allowing the offense to take control of the game. Kuser launched a solo homerun in the to break the ice for the Lady Panthers and Junior Carley Haizlip, Sophomore Emily Noah, Senior Katie Daniel and Junior Rachel Jones kept the hits coming. Aggressive baserunning forced Lewisville errors that resulted in multiple runs and the final score was Midlothian 14, Lewisville 4. Today the softball squad takes on Hebron and Burkburnett in day 2 of the McKinney Tournament.
The Midlothian Lady Panthers opened up district play last night as they resumed a suspended game vs. Mansfield Timberview. Facing a 4-1 deficit in the 3rd inning, the Lady Panthers fought back to tie the game 4-4 behind the hitting of Junior Carley Haizlip, Seniors Emily Kuser, Delaney Wayland and Katie Daniel along with sophomore Emily Noah. Tough luck pitching and catching by Senior Emily Kuser, Junior Megan Stegall and Sophomore Emily Noah wasn't enough as defensive miscues haunted the Lady Panthers as they fell 13-4. Next up is the final tournament of the season in McKinney before they resume district play next Tuesday.
The Midlothian Lady Panthers went 2-4 this past weekend at the Southlake Invitational. While the results weren't there for the Lady Panthers, there were ample opportunities for growth and resilence as it was displayed on the last day of the tournament when the Lady Panthers erased a 10-0 deficit to come back and beat Bryan High School 12-11. Offensively the Lady Panthers proved they are in every game but it wasn't enough as they fell to Weatherford, Keller, Euless Trinity and Denton Guyer while picking up victories over Carrollton Creekview and Bryan High. Come out tomorrow as the Lady Panthers open up District 7-5A play vs Timberview at home tomorrow. Junior Varsity will be at 5:30pm and Varsity will be at 7:30pm
