March 16: State Results
The THSWPA State Championship Power Lifting Meet was held on Saturday, March 16th, in Corpus Christi. The Lady Panthers had 11 lifters qualify including: Taylor Skinner, Savannah Mapes, Kayli Jones, Lily Escamilla, Alex Crannell, Vanessa Mapes, Chandler Gentry, Raegan McGuire, Sara Smitherman, Janelle Slayton, and Alexis Ingram. Four Lady Panthers were awarded medals for finishing in the top five of their weight classes. The highlight of the day was junior Lily Escamilla battling to a 1st place finish and winning the gold medal for her division. Other medalist included: Chandler Gentry, 3rd place; Raegan McGuire, 4th place; and Janelle Slayton, 5th place. The team finished in 6th place out of 29 teams from across the state. Congratulations to Lily Escamilla on her State Championship and to all lifters for a great year.
Tommy Martinez finished 13th overall this past Saturday at the State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene. He improved his total and as a Sophomore it was quite an accomplishment just to make it to the state meet. Congratulations Tommy and looking forward to the next two years!
