School Board Trustee Mr. Mentzel recently visited Mt Peak where he enjoyed lunch with several students. He then watched Avery D. and Ramiro D. play a Pentathlon game while computer club member Tyler T. videos the students.

Childers' Achievers recently took a trip to Red Robin in Cedar Hill with Mrs. Childers and Mrs Slaydon where they were treated to a wonderful lunch. Childers' Achievers are Mt Peak students who have perfect attendance, no tardies, all A's and all E's in conduct for the semester. Congrats!!
Mt Peak Student Council members are busy this season making and decorating gloves to be distributed to local Nursing Homes.
Mt Peak third graders in Mrs. Robertson's class learned about the digestive system of the owl. The students spent time dissecting owl pellets.
Mt Peak First Graders enjoyed learning about The Gingerbread Man by making their very own gingerbread houses!
One of Mt Peak's favorite time of the year is when our annual Angel Tree goes up. Mt Peak students have a wonderful spirit of giving and look forward to this time of sharing every year. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who organize this event and also to our caring students and parents who always make this a huge success.
Mt Peak fifth graders put on an amazing program recently. Honoring Veterans, Heroes, and America. Students spent many hours practicing and becoming accomplished recorder players!
Mt Peak Pre-K recently made a trip to Midlothian Fire Station # 3 to learn how important firefighters, paramedics, and rescue personnel are to every community.
It is No TV Week at Mt Peak! Families are encouraged to spend nightly family time together with no TV, no movies, and no video games. Mt Peak hosted a "Don't Get 'BOARD' Game Night at Mt Peak." Students, staff and family members enjoyed an evening together playing games.

Mt Peak is making amazing, awesome readers! We had an "Out Of This World" Book Fair that is always a student favorite at The Peak. Teachers, faculty, students, parents, and volunteers all work together to make the Book Fair a exciting, successful event.
Mt Peak Community Based Instruction Class spent a day at The Texas State Fair, taking in all the sights, sounds, and tastes of the great state of Texas!
Recently, Mayor Whatley visited 2nd graders at Mt Peak and talked with them about local government and the importance of the City Council.
This week at Mt. Peak, student's accepted Rachel's Challenge. Rachel Scott was a victim of violence at Columbine High School in April 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America.
Rachel's Challenge Objectives for Schools:
- Create a safe learning environment for all students by re-establishing civility and delivering proactive antidotes to school violence and bullying.
- Improve academic achievement by engaging students' hearts, heads and hands in the learning process.
- Provide students with social/emotional education that is both colorblind and culturally relevant.
- Train adults to inspire, equip and empower students to affect permanent positive change.
Mt Peak students are excited about this program and have already begun "Starting a Chain Reaction of Kindness".
Mt. Peak students in Mrs. Tulley's first grade class support the MHS Panthers on Spirit Fridays!
Second graders at Mt Peak created relief maps out of salt dough to demonstrate knowledge of various landforms.
Mrs. Mayer's fourth grade class recently studied volcanos by creating paper mache volcanos in the classroom.
Kinson P. in Mrs. Tulley's 1st grade class is learning how to use his body to make letters of the alphabet during PE.
"Spirit Of The Season" fundraiser kicked off today at Mt Peak Elementary with an exciting and informative assembly in the cafeteria. Students learned all about selling items and raising funds for our school. Coming home with the students is a catalog filled with over 200 hundred goodies. Students can also win exciting prizes. Order forms need to be returned to the school by Monday Sept. 26.
Jaci G. had a grand time participating in Mt Peak's Annual Kindergarten Teddy Bear Parade. Every year Mt Peak kindergartens bring their favorite bear to school and have a parade celebrating a new school year!
