Patriot’s Pen Competition
Award: $5,000
Deadline: November 1, 2015
Available to: Maximum Age 14 Years

Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, the Patriot’s Pen Competition is open to students in grades six through eight. To enter, you must submit a 300 – to 400 – word essay on the following theme: “Why I appreciate America’s Veterans.”

Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition
Award: $30,000
Deadline: November 1, 2015
Available to: High School Freshman through High School Senior

The Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition is open to high school students.

To enter, you must write and record a three- to five-minute broadcast script on the following theme: “Why Veterans are Important to our Nation’s History and Future.”

Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Award: $1,000
Deadline: November 3rd, 2015

  • senior in HS
  • a legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington D.C.
  • has engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least partly during the 12 months prior to the date of application
  • submits a completed application to a school principal or head of an officially designated local organization by Nov 3rd

Amazon Student Scholarship
Award: $5,000
Deadline: Novemeber 20th, 2015

Amazon Student's Scholarship is merit based. Applicants are scored on GPA, community service, and leadership experience. Semifinalists will be required to submit an essay to advance to the final round.

Good360 Sustainability Scholarship
Award: $1,000
Deadline: November 30, 2015

We want to hear how sustainability has touched your life. If you’re a high school senior applying to college, or you’re currently a college student, and you have an interest in sustainability and the environment, then we’d love to hear your thoughts on what sustainability means to you. Thus, we’re sponsoring a college scholarship with an award of $1,000 to go towards tuition.

Students who do not have access to computers at home may use computers in the A.H. Meadows Library. Please note the requirements and deadlines for each scholarship as well as where each completed application must be submitted. As new scholarship opportunities become available they will be posted at that time.
