Mrs. Terrell's 2nd grade students from Longbranch Elementary dressed up and presented an oral report on a famous person as a part of their guided reading assignment.
Mrs. Robbins ESL students made a 100 stick by making 10 groups of 10 cubes with different patterns. When joined together the cubes were as tall as the doorway. WOW!!!
Students in Mrs. Prindle's fourth grade Social Studies class debate the Mexican government's viewpoint of letting more Anglo American settlers into the Texas territory in 1833.
Longbranch first graders, in Mrs. Cowell's class, did a research project on Artic animals. They learned many interesting facts and enjoyed sharing their fantastic projects!
Mrs. Savins' kindergarten class at Longbranch celebrates the Jump Rope for Heart kick-off by writing a letter to Justin Bieber asking him to visit Longbranch and join in to help raise money for JRFH.
Longbranch Choir and "Fire Jumpers" participated in a Jump Rope for Heart Kick-off assembly. Student and staff are trying to raise $30,000 for the American Heart Association. Longbranch ranked 2nd in the state of Texas and 30th in the Nation last year.
Elliott M. from Longbranch Elementary talked about his heart survivor story at the Jump Rope for Heart Kick-off assembly. Elliott was born with a congenital heart defect and has undergone 4 surgeries. The money that is rasied for the American Heart Association goes to research, and ongoing discoveries of new treatmesnts, technologies and preventions are vital to saving and changing lives. Longbranch students and staff are trying to raise $30,000 for this organization.
Longbranch had an awesome Jump Rope for Heart Kick-off assembly and Justin McBieber, (Matt McCool) was there.
Students are trying to raise $30,000 for the American Heart Association get the "Real" Justin Bieber to recognize and join our efforts in this BIG project.
Longbranch Student Council provided and had lunch with Duke Burge to show appreciation for serving on the school board. Thank you Mr. Burge!

Mrs. Germany's second grade students at Longbranch begin a book study! The students will be reading 'Chocolate Touch'.
Thank you to Mrs. Simmons, Longbranch's media/technology specialist, who conducted a lesson on internet research for Mrs. Prindle's fourth graders using iPod Touches. They learned about evaluating websites, correctly citing sources and being careful not to plagiarize.
Kindergarten at Longbranch welcomed the New Year writing resolutions designed for the class and each student!
Longbranch Elementary students and staff had a great time participating in the Reindeer Dash. We ran and made our bodies healthy for a great cause, the "Special Olympics".

Longbranch Elementary helped break a Guinness World record in sport stacking on November 17. The goal for this year is 350,000 stackers. Sport Stacking is an amazing sport that promotes fitness, agility, concentration and quickness.
2nd grade students at Longbranch Elementary enjoyed using the wampums they earned to purchase homemade items from their peers at our annual Trade Days.
Longbrach CBI played a Wampanoag Indian game of Hubbub before they enjoyed their Thanksgiving feast with the class.

Mrs. Benner's Longbranch Kindergarteners pay tribute to our veterans by creating soldiers and writing about our nation's heroes. These students wrote "Soliders are brave, fight for our freedom, and love the USA."
Longbranch 4th graders in Mr. McKinney's class are discovering what makes sound and learning that sound must carry through a medium. They tested a lab to find out which medium (solid, liquid, or gas) sound travels best through.
Longbranch P.E. class learns about bones and how to keep them healthy.

Miss Watkins' first graders learned about the eating habits of owls by dissecting owl pellets. They dug through the fur and bones to discover what the owls had eaten. Morgan S. was not excited about it first - but later, ended up loving the hands on experience!!!
Mrs. Terrell's class was excited to get to spend the day with Faith and Sweetpea, friends from the counselor, on Friday. Our special friends saw us make and scan QR Codes. We used QR codes to solve math problems and students made codes to ask Mrs. Madden, Mrs. Nix and Mrs. Simmons a question.

Ethan H., from Mt. Peak Elementary, came to speak to 5th graders at Longbranch. He has an amazing story about how he has been battling cancer for the last 16 months. He attributes his recovery to his positive attitude and perseverence.

Mrs. McCool and Mrs. Clayton are showing the new dance socks. The P.E. teachers were introducing the new theme for the year, "Born to be Somebody". They are all learning how to sign the song "Born to be Somebody" and learning how they are meant to be special no matter who they are.
Josh and Jacob were ready to find that perfect book to read after having our Library Orientation to learn new library rules.
