Longbranch Elementary opened its doors September 2, 1997, at the current location of 6631 FM 1387 in the eastern quadrant of the Midlothian Independent School District. Students living in the MISD attendance zones of Midlothian, Ovilla, Cedar Hill, and Waxahachie currently attend the school. Longbranch Elementary is a school believing in every educator as a leader of learners and learners as volunteers in the educational setting. Through quality schoolwork, engaging educational experiences, collaborative teamwork, and families with the community as our teaching partners, a positive learning environment is created and nurtured for all stakeholders. Learners are challenged and encouraged to achieve personal excellence and daily success during their life-long learning journeys. The campus offers a continuum of services designed to meet the individual needs of each learner. Various instructional programs include: ESL (English as a Second Language); RISE (Reading IS Essential); Special Education Services for qualifying students including Speech, Resource, Community-Based Instruction, Inclusion, Content Mastery/Learning Lab, and Multisensory Teaching Approach for children with dyslexia; Gifted and Talented programs; Service Learning projects; Community Service Problem Solving; Technology Integration in all subjects. Extension programs include: L.E.A.P. tutoring for extended school-day learning opportunities serving identified at-risk students, Destination Imagination for creative exploration, and Math Pentathlon Competition. A dedicated, active organization known as the PTV (Parent, Teacher, Volunteer) Program continues to perform countless daily tasks on behalf of the Longbranch Elementary staff and students:
