MISD to host School Walk for Diabetes event
On October 16, 2008, Midlothian ISD will host a School Walk for Diabetes event. School Walk for Diabetes is an educational fund-raising program of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) that teaches students the benefits of making healthy life choices, including getting daily exercise and eating nutritious foods. The event is from 5:30-8:00pm at the MHS Track and Field. More

Math Pentathlon for K-7th Graders
The first Mathematics Pentathlon Orientation Session will be held on October 21 at the L.A. Mills Administration Building from 6:30-8:30pm. Math Pentathlon, a K-7th grade math club, is an integral part of the culture of MISD. All elementary and middle school campuses offer opportunities for students to participate in Math Pentathlon and ultimately compete nationally in Austin. Students learn the five Mathematics Pentathlon games within the appropriate grade level-based divisions (K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7). These games utilize math skills as well as interactive problem solving skills. In a recent study, MISD revealed that all students who participated in the Math Pentathlon program passed their math TAKS tests in grades 3-7. Practices for the Austin tournament are held after school at each child's campus. In addition, practice game nights held at T.E. Baxter Elementary are open to all MISD families interested in Math Pentathlon in the district. MISD 2008 Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally

There will be a two-hour early release at all campuses. Come see the homecoming parade and celebrate the Panther spirit. Parade begins at 3:15p with pep rally immediately following. Pre-game events will include recognition of the MHS Class of 1950. MHS Varsity Panthers play the Waco University Trojans at 7:30pm, Multipurpose Stadium.
