Substitute training for the spring semester has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 3rd at L.A. Mills Administration Building. The address is 100 Walter Stephenson Road, Midlothian, Texas. The training begins at 8:00 a.m. and will end at noon.
All applications must be completed and returned no later than Wednesday, January 13th. No exceptions. You may start applying on Tuesday, December 1st. Those applicants who have met the criteria [including fingerprints] and have been approved for substitute teaching will receive an email and/or postal notification. Only those who have received this notification, will be eligible to attend the training.
This training is for NEW applicants to the district. If you have worked for Midlothian I.S.D. in the past, you do not need to attend the training, unless it has been five years or longer.
Substitute applications are located at the front desk of the L.A. Mills Administration Building. Completed applications must be turned in to the front office at the same location. A copy of your driver's license, social security card, and high school diploma, college transcripts and teaching certificate, if applicable, must be submitted with the completed application packet. You will also need the social security number of a beneficiary to complete the FICA alternative program form.
Subs must attend a substitute training class and pass administrative screening before they can be activated in the system. The training class is currently offered in fall and spring of each year. Date will be posted when confirmed. All substitutes are subject to a criminal record check before activation in AESOP.
Midlothian ISD pays $55 per day for substitutes with a high school diploma or GED, $60 per day for substitutes with a four-year college degree, and $70 per day for substitutes with teacher certification from any state. Substitute terms for the same teacher for longer than 10 consecutive days, the pay increases to $90, $100, and $120 for each level of certification. If a substitute is used for a paraprofessional, the rate is $55 per day, regardless of the certification level.
