--------------------------------------------- Golf
Parents of Middle School Students that are interested in Golf,
Thank you for your interest in golf and being a part of our 2nd middle school golf teams! Our programs have already benefited from a year of middle school golf and know that this program is key for taking our really good high school program to another level.
Tryouts will be held at TangleRidge Golf Course in Grand Prairie. Frank Seale & Walnut Grove 8th Grade 4:30 Monday, April 16th & Wednesday, April 18th Frank Seale & Walnut Grove 7th Grade 4:30 Tuesday, April 17th & Thursday, April 19th We will reserve Friday, April 20th to decide if we need any further evaluations to decide teams. This will be TBA.
We will post teams on the MISD golf website over the weekend of April 20th-22nd. Players will need to provide their own clubs, shoes, and proper golf attire (no athletic or denim shorts & wear a collard shirt) for the tryouts and practice. They will also need to meet at the golf course (NO BUS) those 2 days and be on time. We have no way to tell you the level it takes to make the team because we have no way of knowing how much experience and talent each group has.
Everyone must have a physical completed to be able to try-out (if they have participated in any other sport in the 2011-2012 school year they should have one on file already). Also, the 5th six weeks ends Friday, April 13th and anyone that doesn't pass will be ineligible for the team.
If they make the team:
Parents will be expected to provide transportation to either The Driving Range, TangleRidge or Waxahachie Country Club Monday thru Thursday of the 4 and 1/2 week season. Practices will be approximately 2 hours and will be mandatory. They will participate in up to three tournaments with the season ending at the District Tournament on Wednesday, May 16th for 7th grade and Thursday, May 17th for 8th grade. All tournaments will be 9 holes and tournaments will be after school
Any questions can be directed to Coach Charles Nobles, Middle School Golf Coach @ Charles_Nobles@midlothian-isd.net
Thanks again for you interest!
-------------------------------------------- Game Reviews
Thursday night the 8th grade A team Cubs played the Wester Wildcats and lost a close game 43-51. Ray Marshall led the team in scoring with 18 points, and Khiari Muhammed had 12 points. AJ Green gave the Cubs a spark off the Bench as well as Bryce Griffin. Gage Staggs and Caleb Bly also provided many key rebounds in the game to help the Cubs stay in the game. The game came down to the very end and was very close, but the Cubs came up short in the end. The kids look forward to their final showdown of the year against Walnut Grove on Feb. 9th.
The Frank Seale Cubs B team played a tough game Thursday night against the Wester Wildcats. Hector Hernandez led the offense with 10 points and contributed more rebounds than anyone on the court. Kylar Castillo added 8 more points to the offensive effort. Joel Mathis and Spencer Murphy came up with 3 points each. The other 6 points came from Raby Hampton, Hunter Priest, and Jake Ammerman who had 2 each. The final score was 49-30.
