Panthers win and advance to play Waco Midway
The Midlothian Panthers defeated the Seagoville Dragons 2 games to none to
win the Area Round of the Playoffs. Game 1 saw Jake Foster take the mound
for the Panthers. Foster picked up the win. Austin Clark hit a solo
homerun in the 2nd inning to put the Panthers up 2-1, but the Dragons
would battle back to tie the game. A Seagoville error allowed the
Panthers to go ahead again in the 4th and Austin Clark hit an RBI double
in the 5th inning to seal the victory for Panthers, 8-2.
Saturday, Preston Thigpen was the game 2 starter for the Panthers.
Thigpen pitched an outstanding game allowing two hits and striking out 6.
Taylor Goss went 3 for 3 with a walk and scored 3 runs. Chase Edwards hit
a solo home run in the 4th inning. The Panthers would make the most of
Seagoville errors to win the game by a score of 13-1, and the series 2
games to none.
On the way to winning the Area Round, the Panthers surpassed a couple of
milestones. The win Friday night was career win number 200 for Head Coach
Ray Hydes. The win also pushed the Panthers ahead of the 2006 team for
most wins in a season with 26 and still counting.
The Panthers will take on the Waco Midway Panthers in a best of three
series beginning Thursday.
Game 2 will be Friday at 7:30 at Midway, and Game 3 will be at 1:00 at
Duncanville High School if necessary. Games can be heard live on Panther Radio. |
