3/11/10 Game Results
The Varsity Baseball team traveled to Rockwall on Thursday as they opened up the First Annual I-30 Classic tournament. The Panther began the day against Terrell and jumped out to an early lead. Kyler Brown threw a complete game shut out allowing only 4 hits while striking out 7. Zach Walker led the offense going 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI's. The Panthers scored 4 runs in the first and added another in the second and held the Tigers in check to win the game 5-0.
In game 2 the Panthers took on one of the hottest teams in the Metroplex, the Hawks of Rockwall-Heath. Again the Panthers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as Bryan DuPont, Connor Roberts, and Cameron Sissom hit consecutive doubles as the Panthers sent 8 hitters to the plate in the first inning. Devin Rogers did what he could to keep the Hawks at bay, but a big 3 run double in the 2nd inning gave them the lead. The Panthers had chances to pull closer, but couldn't get the hits to fall with runners in scoring position. The Hawks went on to win by a score of 12-4.
The Panthers will travel back to Rockwall tomorrow to begin bracket play with the Forney Jackrabbits. A win in that game could bring a much anticipated rematch with the Hawks on Saturday.
3/10/10 Game Results
The Varsity Baseball team opened District 16-4A play last night against the Waxahachie Indians. The Panthers played well behind a stellar pitching performance from Jake Baer. Jake Baer pitched 5 innings allowing only 1 run while striking out 11. Cameron Sissom, Connor Roberts, and Zach Walker all had big doubles for the Panthers. Successful bunting and timely hitting played big for the Panthers. Bailey Harcrow came in to pitch the 6th and 7th and successfully slammed the door on the Indians. The win put the Panthers in the driver's seat in the district. The Panthers will travel to Rockwall to take part in the I-30 Classic this weekend. Final Score: Midlothian 7 - Waxahachie 5
Game Date Change
Also, the April 1 Varsity game has been changed to April 2 since the first is now a school day. Midlothian vs. Waco High @ 7:00 April 2 in Midlothian.
The Panther Varsity Baseball team will play at the Ballpark in Arlington on Thursday, March 18th at 3:00pm against Aledo. Free Parking in B Lot & Free Admission! First Base Gates will open to the public at 1:30pm. Ballpark seating will be restricted to areas between Section 18 to Section 34 ( View seating chart). Concessions will be available behind section 127 with limited menu items. Come out and cheer on your Panthers!
Games rescheduled: Freshman and JV baseball games scheduled to be played on March 8th against Waxahachie have been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 16. Freshman will play at noon, JV play at 2:00p, both games are in Waxahachie.
3/6/10 Game Results
The freshman baseball team played in the Red Oak tournament this weekend
and finished with a 2 and 1 record.
The Panthers fell short in game 1 to the Waxahachie Indians by a score of
7 to 0. The Panthers did recieve great pitching from Dylan Higdon and
Garrett Ayala only allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings. Tanner Dickerson
played an outstanding game leading the Panthers offensivley and
defensivley. Kyle Lumpkin also had an outstanding defensive performance.
In Game 2 the Panthers defeated the Corsicana Tigers by a score of 11-4.
Brett Breaud pitched 4 innings and only allowed 4 runs. He did an
outstanding job of keeping the Panthers in the game. Shane Lunday pitched
the last inning and shut the Tigers out dashing there hopes of a comeback.
The Panthers were paced offensivley with a three hit game from Bryce
Fausett and a two hit game by David Busse. Josh Boldt played an
oustanding game on defense including a diving catch in left field.
Midlo again took care of business in game 3 whipping up on the Johua Owls
by a score of 14-1. Chad Anders and Tanner Dickerson pitched an excellent
ballgame allowing a combined 0 earned runs. Josh Tobolka, Sean Rodarte,
and Kasey Blair all had oustanding performances offensivley. Defensive
standouts included Dylan Higdon and Zac Graham. The freshman baseball team now has an overall record of 4 wins and 2 losses and are playing the
Waxahachie tournament this weekend!
The JV Baseball team took on some stiff competition this past weekend at
the Ennis Lions Tournament. In the first game Matt McDonald and Daniel
Rushing threw the baseball great by striking out 9 in 6 innings of work.
The offensive onslaught was dominated by Bryant Engle and Austin Saye
leading to a 8-0 opening round win.
In the second game, the Panthers took on a pesky Corsicana team. Grant
Freels started them gamebut fell victim to an ugly strike zone. After
finishing two innings the Panthers were ahead 3-2. JD Pruitt came in
relief in the third and pitched well closing the door on the Tigers and
finishing with a 6-5 victory. Tanner Gaddy let the way with two hits Kyle
Rinehart did a great job working counts and picking up an RBI.
Finally the tournament came to a head with the Panthers facing the Forney
Jackrabbits in a winner take all showdown. Forney had beaten up on
Waxahachie and Red Oak to get to the championship. The Panthers were
ready with Tyler Colburn on the bump and the sticks finally heating up the
Panthers won the championship in run rule fashion with a 9-1 victory.
Colburn pitched a great game facing only one more batter then the minimum
and striking out 10 of 16 batters.
Tanner Gaddy, Hunter Hipsman, Tyler Colburn, and Daniel Rushing were
selected All Tournament team players. The MVP was given to all the guys
on the team who may not have started every game but contributed in many
ways to make our TEAM successful. I invite you to come watch these young
men as they mold from young men into one cohesive team. There is a very bright future for Midlothian Baseball.

The MHS Baseball program is selling tickets to 2010 Texas Ranger games at a rate that is LOWER than face value. The premium games are: Cubs (May 21), Astros (June 26), Yankees (Aug. 10 & 11 & Sept. 10), and Red Sox (Aug. 13 & 15).

Midlothian is now a 5A School District

This morning the University Interscholastic League announced its district alignments for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years. UIL governs most secondary extracurricular activities in Texas and assign classifications to schools based on the high school enrollment. During the October snapshot date, Midlothian High School had 2,215 students. The cut-off to be considered a 5A school district is 2,065+ students. Therefore, MISD is now a 5A school district. More |
