Softball advance to Regional Quarterfinals
The Lady Panther softball game canceled yesterday will be replayed Thursday 5/08/08 at Mansfield High School at 7:00. Friday's games will be played as scheduled in Waco at Baylor University with the first game starting at 6:00 with game 2, if needed, starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 2. Baylor Ballpark (baseball), Getterman Stadium (Softball), Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field and the Baylor Tennis Center are located together as part of the Turner Riverfront Athletic Complex, just across the parking lot from the Ferrell Center on University Parks Drive.
From the north, drive south on I-35, take University Parks Drive exit and turn east (left) onto University Parks Drive. The Turner Athletic Complex is on your left before you reach the Ferrell Center.

Panther Baseball advance after defeating Bulldawgs
The Varsity Baseball team opened up the Playoffs last weekend against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs. Jake Foster was the starting pitcher for the Panthers in Game 1 on Friday night. Foster threw 6 innings to pick up the win. Foster scattered 5 hits, struck out 4 batters, and walked 2. Aaron Sims entered in the 7th inning and allowed the Dawgs to tie the game up. In the top half of the 8th inning, Taylor Goss (2 for 4) hit an RBI singe to drive in the go ahead run. Aaron Sims found redemption in the eighth, striking out two of the final three batters to seal the win (7-5) for the Panthers.
Game 2 was played on Saturday and Preston Thigpen took the ball looking to advance the Panthers. Thigpen threw 6 innings allowing 6 hits and striking out 6 batters. The Panthers were trailing 1-0 early, but in the 4th inning Chase Edwards hit a 2 RBI double to put the Panthers up 2-1. The Panthers added another run in the 6th inning when Taylor Goss singled to score Edwards. The 3-1 cushion was all Sterling Gravens would need as he came in and ended the season for the Bulldawgs. Final score was 3-2. Gravens pitched one innning striking 2 runners and allowing no runs.
The Panthers advance to Area round of the playoffs and will play the Seagoville Dragons. Come out and support our Panthers as they continue their drive toward Austin. Listen to the game Live on Panther Radio!

Panther Boys post-season qualifiers for track and field
• Sam Emerson advanced to the regional track meet in Denton after finishing 2nd in 3200m dash at district. Sam Placed 14th in the 3200 at regionals.
• Neil Ellis advanced to the regional meet after finishing 3rd in the 3200 meter dash at district. Neil placed 7th in the 3200 at regionals and had the fastest time of all Juniors at the meet.
• Raylon Evans advanced to the regional meet after finishing 1st in the 3200m and 2nd in the 1600m. Raylon finished 5th at the regional meet in the 3200m and 12th in the 1600m.
• Kyle Lister advanced to the regional meet after finishing 1st in the 1600m dash. Kyle placed 3rd at Denton and just missed advancing to state by a few seconds.
• Vince Frawley placed first at the district meet in the pole vault and advanced to the State meet on May 9th finishing 2nd at the regional meet with a vault of 14'6.
• Eric Frawley placed second at the district meet in the pole vault and advanced to the state meet on May 9th finishing 1st at the regional meet with a vault of 15'0.
Overall the boys track team finished 8th out of 57 teams in the region! |

MISD gets
realigned for 2008-10
The University Interscholastic
League has announced its district alignments for the 2008-09 and 2009-10
school years. UIL governs most secondary extracurricular activities
in Texas and assign classifications to schools based on the high school
enrollment. Midlothian schools will be in District 16-4A. The new district
follows: Cleburne, Corsicana, Ennis, Midlothian, Waco High, Waco Midway,
Waco University and Waxahachie. Wrestling (District
12-4A, Region 2) and Soccer alignments
(District 16-4A, Region 1) have also been changed. To

Athletic Physicals
for Grades 5 thru 11
MISD athletic physicals will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 4-7p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The cost of the physical is $20. There will be 7-10 male and female doctors present. Anyone participating in the pre-athletic class in 6th grade or regular athletics (7th-12th grade) will need a new physical.
Athletic physicals will only be done on this day. This date replaces the August physicals done in the past. The athletic participation packet may be downloaded here.
