PrintTechnology Department adds new search engine.
Mar. 17, 2005

Searching the internet has not only become unsafe for our students, but can often times lead to embarrassing situations for ourselves as well. We spend hours each week blocking inappropriate sites that slip through our policies. Not to mention all of the educationally irrelevant sites that come up during a simple search like the "Alamo". You will get over 3,000,000 responses with the first being "Alamo Rent-A-Car". We have been looking for a solution.

Enter netTrekker: It is an educationally safe search engine that we have purchased rights to to utilize in our District for the remainder of this year and for all of next year.

Some of the reasons for choosing NetTrekker.com:

Designed for education: netTrekker is a revolutionary Internet search engine created specifically for students, teachers, librarians and parents.
Searching is easy: netTrekker contains over 180,000 educator-selected online resources organized by the K-12 curricula so searching is logical and easy.
Safe for students: All netTrekker web sites have been selected and evaluated by educators so students receive only safe, relevant results every time they use the Internet.
Helpful to educators: netTrekker delivers resources, including 18,000 lesson plans and learning exercises that are aligned with our state standards.

From school, you will only need to select your campus the first time you log in and from then on, it will allow you to go right to netTrekker to do your searches. From home, simply register to gain access.

Safe Relevant Searching!
