On
December 17, the School Board unanimously approved the recommendation
to hire Kelly Madden as the new principal for Longbranch Elementary.
She is currently the principal at RC Fisher, a 6th grade TBEC Honor
Roll School, in Athens Independent School District.
Superintendent
Dr. Kennedy states, "Kelly possesses a vast amount of elementary
instructional knowledge, especially in the area of literacy programs.
As a current principal, her leadership experiences will allow her
to continue the rich tradition of high academic standards at Longbranch
Elementary. As staff and parents get to know Kelly, they'll soon
discover what I'm talking about."
Kelly Madden
received her Masters in Educational Administration from Tarleton
State University. Kelly has 6 years of elementary teaching experience
in Killeen ISD. She also has served as an elementary assistant principal
for 2 years in Malakoff ISD. While serving as principal for 3 years
at RC Fisher, her campus was named one of the Top 3 schools in Texas
by Texas Monthly magazine, December 2006 edition.
Mrs. Madden
has been married to Billy for 10 years. They have a daughter Kamryn,
age 6, and a son Wriley, age 3.
After being
told she was selected as the new Longbranch principal, Madden stated,
"It is my privilege to have the opportunity to work collaboratively
with the extraordinary teachers, spectacular students, and supportive
parents and community of Midlothian ISD. I look forward to joining
the Longbranch team of students, parents, and teachers reaching
for the highest branch, one learner at a time."
Beth Van Amburgh,
current principal at Longbranch Elementary, has recently accepted
a position as the new principal at
LaRue Miller Elementary. The campus is scheduled to open August
2008.
