The Midlothian ISD Board met in a Special Called Session on Monday, February 1, 2010 and named Lee Wiginton as the new head football coach of the Midlothian Panthers. Wiginton replaces Robby Clark who announced his resignation.

Coach Wiginton graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He also received a CARR academic scholarship and played football for two years. Wiginton later earned his Masters in Educational Administration with a Mid-Management certification from Southwest Texas State University.

His 17-year coaching experience includes high schools in Bastrop, Bosqueville, Comfort, and Mexia. In ten seasons as a head football coach, Coach Wiginton coached in 18 playoff games. Since 2000, Lee has received four “Co-Coach of the Year” and four “Coach of the Year” honors.

Athletic Director Steve Keasler states, "Lee Wiginton will be a great asset to our kids, staff and community. He is extremely enthusiastic and excited to be a part of Midlothian ISD. Lee is a perfect fit for our current situation here in Midlothian and will have a positive impact on the football program in grades 7-12."

Coach will be leaving Mexia High School as the Head Football Coach to make his mark at Midlothian when released from his duties.

A welcome reception to meet Coach Wiginton will be held Thursday, February 4 at 7:00pm in the MISD Administration Building boardroom.
