The Varsity Baseball Team travelled to Grand Prairie yesterday to take on the Gophers. Jimmy Fouse took the mound for the Panthers looking to extend his record to 5-0 on the year. Fouse had a strong first inning striking out the Gopher leadoff hitter, forcing a weak ground ball back to the pitcher, and striking out the Gopher's 3-hole hitter. The Panthers got off to an early start as Dylan Hogg reached on an error and Ethan Hallmark took advantage of an errant throw to put runners on 2nd and 3rd for Alec Humphreys. Humphreys drove in the first run and Matt Young followed driving in two to put the Panthers out to an early 3-0 lead. The Gophers struck back with a solo home run in the second but Fouse settled down scattering 6 hits over 5 innings while striking out 9 batters. The Panther bats seemed to come alive as the game went on. The Panthers added a run in the 2nd, 4  in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 1 in the 7th. JD Pruitt pitched the 6th and 7th inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 4. Final score, Midlothian 10 - Grand Prairie 2. The win improves the Panthers record to 16-9 on the year, and 7-5 in District 5-5A play. They will travel to Mansfield Timberview on Friday.
