The Varsity Baseball Team travelled to South Grand Prairie to begin the second half of District 5-5A play. This was a very big game for the Panthers as they were part of a three way tie for the last two playoff spots with the Warriors and Mansfield Legacy.

Midlothian jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Tyler Colburn took the mound for the Panthers looking to hold the Warriors in check. After a rough first inning of struggling to find the strike zone and untimely errors by the defense the Panthers found themselves going into the second inning trailing by a score of 3-2. Disciplined at bats loaded the bases for the Panthers in the second inning and found Alec Humphreys at the plate. Humphreys hammered the third pitch he saw over the left field fence for a grand slam that gave the Panthers a 7-3 lead.

The sudden burst of runs was all that Tyler Colburn would need as he shook off the first inning and settled in to his comfort zone. Colburn threw 4 innings allowing only 5 hits and striking out 7. The Panthers continued their offensive onslaught as Matt Young went 3 for 4. Tanner Dickerson, Ethan Hallmark, and Austin Saye all contributed big doubles. The Panthers pounded out 15 runs on 13 hits on the night.

Ethan Davis entered the game in the 5th inning with the Panthers winning 15-5. Taking over for Colburn, Davis struck out 2 hitters and ended the game on a lazy fly ball to left field. The win improves the Panthers record to 14-7 on the year and 5-3 in District 5-5A.

The Panthers will continue a very important stretch run as they travel to Duncanville on Thursday and Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday before hosting Cedar Hill next Friday.
