----- Original Message ----- The Varsity Baseball team travelled to Mansfield on Friday to take on the Mansfield High TIgers. First place for the first half of district was on the line. Grant Freels, coming off of a dominating performance against the Cedar Hill Longhorns, took the mound for the Panthers. Freels was very good allowing only two runs in 6-1/3 innings of work. In the top of the third, trailing 1-0, Tanner Dickerson homered to left to tie the game. The Tigers would answer with a run in the 4th to go back on top 2-1. The Panther offense got hot in the 5th inning as Austin Saye and Bryant Engle both singled with 1 out. Zac Cambron had a great at bat that led to a walk to load the bases. With two outs and a full count, Dustin Martin had a 2 RBI single to put the Panthers up 3-2. The Panthers took the 3-2 lead into the 7th inning looking to seal the deal. JD Pruitt, who had entered to pitch the last 2/3's of the sixth inning, walked the leadoff hitter. That brought up Mansfield High's best hitter, Hargrove, who homered to left to win the game for the Tigers. Though the result was not favorable for the Panthers, it was a very well played game on both sides. The loss puts the Panthers record at 13-7 on the year and 4-3 in District 5-5A.
