The Varsity Baseball team hosted the Mansfield High Tigers on Friday to conclude the first half of District 5-5A play. The Panthers entered the game in need of a win. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead scoring one run in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. Cody Cain and Daniel Tockhorn came up big with the RBI's. The Tigers battled back and took advantage of a couple of Midlothian errors to take the lead 3-2 in the 4th. The bottom of the 4th saw the Panther bats really come alive. Ethan Davis hit a two-run homerun and Alec Humphreys hit a sac fly to score Daniel Rushing
to give the Panthers the 5-3 lead. The Panthers added two more in the 5th on a 2 RBI single by Colton Clanton. Blaine Blackburn pitched a gem of a game, allowing 2 earned runs while scattering 5 hits while striking out 3. Daniel Tockhorn came in with 1 out in the 6th to relieve Blackburn following a 2 run Tiger homerun. Tockhorn struck out the next two hitters to end the inning. The Tigers went down in order in the seventh to give Tockhorn the save and Blackburn the win. The win improves the Panthers record to 8-13 on the season and 3-4 in district. South Grand Prairie will come to town on Tuesday to begin the second half of district play.
